Symphonic Band is our advanced, top wind band, comprised primarily of upperclassmen and those with advanced playing abilities on wind instruments. Membership in the group and enrollment in the class is by audition or teacher approval.
This ensemble will explore both contemporary and classic wind band literature for advanced high school ensembles, will perform at a minimum of 3 concerts per year, plus an appearance at at least one Festival. Symphonic Band is a regular daily class period throughout the day. |
The Sultana Concert Band is a winds-only class comprised of beginner/intermediate students and those with developing playing abilities. Students that are brand new to playing a band instrument, have 1-2 years of experience, or are interested in learning a secondary instrument should enroll in this class.
In this class, students will develop the basics and fundamentals of wind instrument playing, musicianship, notation, and music reading.
Students who have shown acceptable progress can audition or will be recommended for the Symphonic Band class once they show sufficient growth and skill level on their instrument.

The Sultana Winter Drumline is a second semester indoor competitive activity consisting of students marching and performing on various percussion instruments. This ensemble competes across Southern California from February-April. This ensemble is open to all Sultana students and is by audition only. Students in this group are enrolled in the 7th period 'Marching Band' class for the second semester, and earn a semester of PE credit toward their graduation requirements. There are commitments outside of the normal school day, including after school, evenings, and select Saturday rehearsals. There are some costs associated with participation in this group, and fundraising opportunities will be available. This page will be your one-stop shop for all things related to Sultana's Winter Drumline, including a calendar for the season, permission slips, downloads, documents, and more! Marching Band is an after school, 7th period class that does not meet every day.
Students have the option of participating in 2nd semester Winter Drumline, Winter Guard, or Winter Winds and will earn a second semester of PE credit if they do.
